Why Choosing Yourself is the Ultimate Quiet Rebellion
In my first book, How Did I Get Here? A Guide to Letting Go of Your Past & Living in Alignment with Your True Self, I take readers on a journey to understand how, most often in life, we end up in places we never really intended. Why? Because of the stories we’ve inherited from our past.
I touched on, but didn’t deeply explore, how we are conditioned—by our families, the people around us, and even the education system—to believe we are a certain way, to fit certain roles.
Yet beneath all that conditioning, there’s often this constant, quiet unease.
We feel it, but we push it down. We push down that urge to want something different, to want to be someone else, because stopping to listen means we might have to change—and change is uncomfortable, isn’t it?
Sometimes, life shifts our reality in ways we don’t expect—through divorce, redundancy, illness, or other challenges. These shifts can act as wake-up calls, reminding us that life is short, precious, and that perhaps it’s time to start paying attention to what’s truly calling us.
In my second book, currently titled The Quiet Rebellion: A Journey to True Freedom Through Choosing Yourself, I share what happened after my world fell apart—the divorce, the redundancy, the return from Nepal, and the deep seeing of my own truth.
I realised the one thing that could bring me true happiness was not trying to fit in or keep chasing more—more success, more recognition, more distractions—but doing exactly the opposite.
As Mingyur Rinpoche says, “To take reverse action.”
For me, this meant giving up the things that had caused my struggle: the desperate need for a partner to complete me, the belief that more was the answer, and the endless chase for external validation.
This book unfolds the uncomfortable but necessary journey of walking away—away from old dreams, away from the idea that someone else will fill the gaps inside, and away from the false belief that success means being seen and applauded by others.
But this is not about running away. It’s about waking up.
It’s about shedding expectations and questioning the rules we’ve been given, so we can reclaim a life made just for us.
The Quiet Rebellion is for anyone who has ever felt trapped by the noise of the world and the pressure to conform. It’s an invitation to pause, listen deeply, and remember that freedom doesn’t always come loud or fast. Sometimes it arrives in stillness.
In How Did I Get Here?, I ask readers to deeply reflect on a crucial question:
What do I truly want?
Not what others expect you to want, or what society says you should want, but what your honest, unfiltered self desires.
The Quiet Rebellion
is about taking full ownership of that answer—and embracing your truth, no matter what others think.
Choosing yourself is not selfish—it’s radical.
It’s the ultimate act of courage and the quietest form of rebellion.
Because when we choose ourselves, we heal not just our own lives, but the world around us.
So, I want to ask you:
➡ Does the idea of a Quiet Rebellion resonate with you?
➡ Have you felt the pull to step away from the noise and live on your own terms?
